Satisfaction levels with opportunities to provide input into decision making showed a statistical decrease for both resident groups. Current performance is on the low side for both permanent residents and second homeowners and has decreased by over 20% since 2015.
Providing community members with opportunities to provide input into decision-making represents an inclusive approach to community development. Monitoring community members’ satisfaction with the input opportunities reflects the current public perception of genuine engagement, and may impact the quality and ownership over decisions that are made.
This indicator reports community members’ satisfaction with opportunities for input to community decisions such as rezoning, bylaws, programs, festivals and events, and other important public activities. Data is collected annually through the Community Life Survey.
