In 2022, the percentage of residents living in Whistler for over five years has remained consistent amongst second homeowners, though permanent residents saw an increase of 11pts.

Why we monitor this

The number of years that residents have lived in Whistler provides an indication of the community’s transient or stable nature. A high proportion of transient community members may impact on a community’s ability to develop a strong social fabric and on individual business and economic viability due to the high cost of turn over.

What this measures

This indicator reports on the proportion of permanent residents residing in Whistler for at least five years, seasonal residents returning to Whistler for at least five years and second homeowners owning property in Whistler for at least five years.
