Whistler’s 2021 active business licenses totaled 3398, a slight increase from 3,248 in 2019. 2020 started to see business closures as a result of the COVID pandemic, and 2021 numbers show a promising recovery from this pandemic related dip.

A healthy investment climate can be reflected in the total number of businesses newly forming, continuing operations and closing. Tracking new business licenses, renewals of licenses and non-renewals provides a proxy for these categories.
