Trust in decision-making reports a statistical decrease for both permanent residents and second homeowners year over year, marking the lowest satisfaction levels on record.

Why we monitor this

Community trust in local decision-makers’ (municipal leaders in 2019) intentions provides a snapshot of public support for decisions. Public support is often influenced by the engagement opportunities, communications transparency, as well as community understanding of issues and trade-offs related to decisions.

What this measures

This indicator measures community members’ level of trust that local decision-makers (municipal leaders in 2019) have the best interests of the community in mind when making decisions. The data is collected annually in the Community Life Survey.
