Results for 2023 increased dramatically amongst both resident groups, likely due to 2022 results being impacted by transit strikes. In December 2022 and through winter 2023, there was a transit driver shortage making transit unreliable as trips dropped daily through winter 2022/23. On February 6, 2023, a lower level of transit service was introduced in an attempt increase reliability for the remainder of winter. There were still trips dropped almost daily through to mid-April when dropping to shoulder season transit service levels.

Why we monitor this

Encouraging individuals to use low impact transportation modes and transition from single occupancy vehicle (SOV) travel, requires a high level of satisfaction in alternatives such as walking, biking, transit and car pooling. These alternative options must therefore be convenient and attractive for use by residents or visitors.
